DIY Letter Standee (paper mache)

Finally!! we have our internet back and at last I can now post this DIY project we did two weeks ago :)
This is for my friend's daughter who will be having her debut party on the 26th.

this is the finish product and this is how we did it

Thankful that aside from my husband , there is this girl in our church whom I can trust to do the lettering and cutting. These are big letters, probably size is 26 inches. I initially thought of a styropor material but I wanted a 3d type of letters, the usual material is wood and I know that is expensive so I thought of paper mache. Brilliant idea!! I had these cardboards and papers excess from last Christmas and that's what I used.

 cut the letter pattern first

we put paper cups in between 2 letters
see those paper cups in the middle?
started pasting strip of papers at the sides
 ready for painting

after the painting and the glitters :)
ready for display on Friday!

Fancy tapes

Or popularly called washi tapes. I've bee hearing about it from crafty moms so when I went to Uniwide Coastal mall and saw these cheap but beautiful colored tapes, I bought some for myself  kasi they are cheaper than regular bookstore eh, all of these (7 rolls) are only 34.00 (less than a dollar) good buy diba?

So now, the question is, where will I use them?

so far...I used it to make my boring USB a colored one :)

and in my plain black planner

My husband used the green and red combination for his acoustic guitar too :)

There are many other colorful and beautiful designs so next time I make sure I'll buy some more. This is very good find for those who are into crafts/scrapbooking and for your DIY projects.

Customized box for guitar effects

The husband is doing a DIY box for his guitar effects. I'll definitely post picture of it here.

He actually inquired about the price of a custom made box and he was surprised that it is so expensive. Thus, he decided he'll make one for himself.

Last Saturday, we bought the materials needed (we spent hours looking for every items he need plus extra hours looking at some musical instruments also, he can't resist it! went to see an  akai mpc at guitar center, a drum set, speakers and a lot more. Good thing I was with him at that time, if not, it has probably taken him the whole day.

So anyways, he started the project already (keeps him awake till past midnight) and I hope he can finish it this weekend (because it keeps me awake too!)

I'll keep you posted :)

My DIY Wedding Canopy

Here's the finish product of the DIY Wedding Canopy me and my husband painstakingly made for a friend's wedding. It's our first time and I am quite satisfied from the result. I know we can do much better next time, see for your self how we compared from my inspirations of wedding canopies to the real thing.

The aisle was also my idea :) local banig (mat) instead of red carpet
Side view of the canopy (not perfect but I think we did great..hehe!)

I'm still waiting for the official photos and I hope there is at least one good shot of the canopy there :)

Biggest DIY-Wedding Canopy

I'm attempting my biggest DIY (do it your self)so far for a wedding next month, I am making a bamboo wedding canopy -instead of gazebos we usually see on garden wedding, we're trying out a bamboo canopy that is usually being used on beach wedding.

Thank God for internet. All the how to's are there, how to get rid of pimples, how to make a ribbon bow and yes- how to make a wedding canopy. I saw a lot of pictures and I am using them as inspirations and I hope I can at least make it beautiful. Crossing my fingers.

We've already started making the four poles a while ago, tomorrow, I will do the mock up with the white linens. Wish me all the best!

here are the pictures I saw from google :) the first one is from secretgardenweddings.com.au and the second one is from hemingway designs.

I'll post picture of my bamboo canopy right after the wedding :)

DIY- Towel Lollipops

For the moms and ladies out there who love parties and is as frugal as me, you might want to check this out. I made this for my friend's baby shower. I think they look nice and everyone was asking me if what's this and if this is edible? So if you want to make one, I'm going to show you how I made mine.

Materials: Face Towel, Popsicle sticks, Tape, Sticker (for your tag or label)  clear plastic, satin ribbon or any ribbon of your choice.

First step: Fold the towel like this (diamond type?)

and then fold it again as shown below
Fold one more and then roll the towel
Put the Popsicle stick and then the sticker
And for the finale touch, put it in the clear plastic (you may also opt for printed but clear ones)

Tie a ribbon and presto! you have cute party favors!

next DIY project : Towel cupcake
